Add that to the casual suggestions of murdering anyone who believes differently, and you smell like a republican. D&D has a lot of versions, each appealing to a different playerbase. Cry all you like about the newer ones, but if 1st Ed. was all there was, D&D would have died with it. Computer games handle all the rules for people these days, so you can't expect newer players to look at clunky, unwieldy, and obscure mechanics as positive things. Nothing is keeping you from clutching your 1e close to your crusty grognard heart until the day you die, so get over yourself. It's a freakin' GAME, you misanthrope. Gygax and Arneson created a great game many years ago. When 2nd Ed replaced 1st, it was a serious raping of art. When 3rd Ed came out, it was a commercialized crap game that used the same name and some of the same dice as D&D. By the time you get to 4th... its just a parody. They haven't added anything to the system since Lizards took over. They are just parasites. They are the thieves. Again. They want to steal a good game and make a profit from it? Hang them. Piracy is probably the biggest, if not the single reason for them doing this! And why shouldn't they? They made a product and you should pay for it if you want it! You wouldn't steal from a store or a person would you? It's the same thing. What you people fail to realize is that the very game you love will vanish if you don't support the company. The fact is that although there are many fans of the multiple versions of D&D, there is only one owner. And they can do whatever they like with the property. Since the last three prequals of Star Wars I've been a strong advocate for taking the franchise away from George Lucas but that's not likely to happen. And I'm not falling for the "customer be damned" hate speech, the company "death spiral" or "another nail in the D&D coffin" bit. I've seen more and more pirated WoTC products in the past year than ever before. I recently found one website where you can download the entire collection of D&D Dungeon Tiles in PDF format for free. It's wrong and it's theft. And let's keep in mind that WoTC is not the huge corporation many haters make it out to be. Sure they've snapped up they're PDF's but at least they haven't sold anyone a sub-prime mortgage. The motive behind this move is business; not sinister. Oh, first time poster.
